Comment

Clumping-form form. Bolt upright, arching at the top. The most widely planted bamboo. The foliage clings to the culm over many years. Invasive, so needs room to spread - control spreading growth by planting in 2 feet depth and width concrete lined trench. Tends to habit of flowering massively, taking several years to regain its former glory.

Grow in a deciduous woodland or wild garden, or as screening/ hedging (3 feet between each plant). When planted as a windbreak, the rustle of the leaves creates a soothing noise.

Available from Coblands Nurseries Ltd and Palmstead Nurseries Ltd.
