If you know the name of the plant you wish to see, you can ask Google and get information; otherwise for the public this website may help you choose your plants using foliage, shape and seed/fruit as well as flower photos before you buy them mailorder directly from the nursery / seed company that has donated the use of their photos!

With free advertising of their plants, I am asking for photos from the public / nurseries / seed companies / suppliers in the UK, or any other country in the European Union, who would supply plants / seeds mailorder direct to the public in the UK and/or the rest of the world. This also applies to American nurseries for America, Chinese Nurseries for China, etc since the plants from most other countries in the world can also be grown in the UK as well as their own country; providing the appropriate growing conditions are stated.

"Allium bulbs should be planted in autumn, with the pointed end facing upwards, at a depth of approximately 3 times their height. Choose a sunny position in free draining soil." from Van Meuwen

The Bulb Project features creative projects to help educators share the joys of growing flower bulbs with children and youth, and use bulbs to help teach science, art, history and other subjects.

Racquel Downing Stair is a passionate gardener who would rather be outside digging in the dirt than inside cleaning up the dirt, and does find time to create a gardening blog

The mail order nursery link to obtain the bulb is in the Comments Row of its Bulb Description Page.

Note - the Bulb Gallery names of Spring Bulb,
Late Summer Bulb,
Autumn Bulb and Winter Bulb refer to when the bulbs are delivered to you, not when they flower.

It also contains bulbs, rhizomes or tubers not sold by R.V. Roger Ltd.

There are approximately 2572 species of Allium. If photos were donated to use on this website, more species of Allium could be compared.

Smiling straw bales to greet you - assembled by farm labourers!!

Remember that if you have a central heating system run by hot water going through radiators, that the water corrodes the steel in the radiators causing black sludge and corroded bits of the radiators to go into that water. An inhibitor needs to be added each year to reduce this damage. If it is a Gas boiler, then the boiler needs cleaning each year otherwise bits collect on the heat exchanger and reduce the heating efficiency. A magnetic system to attract the corroded bits to itself in this pipework, which can then be cleaned in the annual service will further reduce damage to the boiler and the pump.

If you do not bother, then the sludge builds up, the detritus on the boiler builds up and you either replace the boiler well before its normal end of working life and/or you pay a fortune to have the entire system power flushed, together with the replacement of the pump every 2 or 3 years; because the sludge causes it to break up. It also becomes noisy as its bearings wear out.

I have only looked at 1 or 2 of his pictures of plants like Anemone nemorosa 'Robinsoniana' and they are good. It may be worth your while to spend a little time visiting his website:-

"My name is Magnar Aspaker. I'm a teacher. My wife's name is Toril. We have two grown up children. We live in  Harstad, North Norway, around 69º north, 200 km north of the arctic circle. This may seem very far north, but because Harstad is situated close to the sea; actually we live on the biggest island in Norway; it's not so cold here in winter. We normally have a good winter cover of snow. But the summers are short and may be quite cool. Max temperature is 28C..min -16C.

Still during the growing season we have daylight 24 hours a day. The sun never sets from May 24 to July 20. This gives a long growing season even if the summer is short.

I've been growing perennials from seeds since around 1985. It all started when I got bored of the choice of perennials offered in the local garden-centers. So I started to sow my own perennials, to see what would survive up here.

When you go to the books, they tell you about a lot of plants unsuitable for our region, and this just because no one has ever tried them here before.

So I've been trying out a lot, and have proved that much more plants can grow here without any cover during winter. At the moment I have close to 2000 different perennials in my garden. See my list of plants. You will find around 825 plant pics..all taken in our garden.   60 pics   added  2011.

I am always interested in seed exchange and contact with people, especially those living in same zone as I, for exchange of experience with plants. My seedlist can be found under TRADE in the left window."
