Comment |
Clump-forming Allium stipitatum is native to Turkestan, Afghanistan and central Asia and an excellent cut-flower. "The most popular white drumstick allium, standing over 120cm (4ft) tall it adds height to any border or shrubbery. It also increases quite well." from R.V. Roger. Plant 5.6 inch diameter bulb at 4 inch depth and 8 inches apart in a gravel garden. Never plant at perfectly measured distances apart as this looks artificial - plant in clumps of 5, 7 or 9 in a staggered group so that they look more natural when they flower. Split and divide large clumps in autumn or spring. Can be grown in pots. Plant with Anthriscus sylvestris 'Ravenswing', Aquilegia vulgaris var. stellata 'Black Barlow', Artemesia ludoviviciana 'Valerie Finnis' and Deschampsia cespitosa. Plant with blue-flowering geraniums and Alchemilla mollis. Available from R.V. Roger and Choice Bulb Farms in USA as well as B & T World Seeds in USA |
