Glossary: A - Acid of soil. With a pH value of less than 7.
Glossary: B - Bush. A small shrub.
Glossary: C - Chlorophyll. The green plant pigment for photosynthesis.
Glossary: D - Dibber. Tool to make holes in potting compost for cuttings.
Glossary: E - Evergreen. Plants that retain their foliage more than 1 year.
Glossary: F - Framework. The permanent branch structure of a tree/shrub.

Glossary: L - Leaf. Plant organ that photosynthesises/respires/transpires.
Glossary: M - Mycorrhizae. Soil fungi that benefit plant roots.
Glossary: N - Node. Stem point from which leaf, branch or flower arises.
Glossary: O - Organic. Gardening without the use of synthetic materials.
Glossary: P - Pan. Soil layer that stops water and oxygen reaching roots.
Glossary: Q - Quartered rosette. Flower's petals arranged in 4 sections.
Glossary: R - Rootstock. Plant used to provide roots for a grafted plant.
Glossary: S - Subsoil. Less fertile soil layer beneath topsoil.
Glossary: T - Thatch. Dead and live grass layer on top of soil in lawns.
Glossary: U - Underplanting. Low plants planted under larger ones.
Glossary: V - Vegetative growth. Non-flowering, usually leafy growth.
Glossary: W - Whip. Young seedling/grafted tree without lateral branches.
