Informal Honeysuckle hedge in July next to the boundary fence in a back garden. |
Provides a living green backdrop to the flowers. |
This hedge is about 6 feet high and can easily be pruned from the ground to a pruned height of about 5 feet. Shoulder height is the maximum height to prune a hedge to from the safety of the person pruning it.. It can then grow the next season and be cut back. |
An informal hedge can be allowed to grow and then pruned hard when time allows. Leaving a formal hedge to grow untamed, will lead to an untidy garden.
