Hummock to mat-forming plant, which is native to the Northern hemisphere and Southern South America on coastal cliffs, beaches and salt marshes, as well as mountains inland. A very variable species with many ill-defined varieties and subspecies:-
Ideal for the rock garden, raised bed, scree as an edging plant and alpine house. Cut off flowers and stems immediately after the flowers fade, and they will rebloom.
