Soil

Roses prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring.

Tolerant of Poor Soils, so broadcast rose fertilizer in early summer as well.

Fragrant semi-double blooms, rich golden-yellow flushed orange.

Flowering is in the Spring only. Moderately fragrant.

Comment

A superb climber. One of the first to flower each season. Spectacular when in full flush. In a good summer will repeat with a good crop of flowers in the autumn. Strong stems covered in reddish-brown thorns.

Climber or Pillar rose. Grow into trees.
