Soil

Roses prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring.

Almost evergreen rich Dark Green with dark brownish maroon stems which are armed with barbed thorns.

Flower Colour in Season. Hips

Lemon-Yellow with golden-brown stamens. Flowering is Continuous throughout the summer. Moderately fragrant.

Comment

Only light pruning required. Needs protection from severe frost damage, which can kill it in the UK. A vigorous grower, which is best supported on a South- or West-facing wall.

A beautiful and useful Climber or Pillar rose.
