Soil

Roses prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring.

Tolerant of Poor Soils, so broadcast rose fertilizer in early summer as well.

Foliage

Foliage, when free of mildew early in the season is bright, glossy dark green.

Flower Colour in Season. Hips

Colourful cascades of clear pink blooms with the occasional almost white bloom among the cluster, and well scented.

Flowering is in the Summer only. Very fragrant.

Comment

A very famous rose known, by name at least, to most gardeners. Growth is pliable and semi-vigorous.

Good for Procumbent or wide-growing Ground-cover.

Susceptible to Mildew.
