Soil

Roses prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring.

Tolerant of Poor Soils, so broadcast rose fertilizer in early summer as well.

One of the most popular roses of the 1930s. Makes an outstanding climber with an upright habit.

Climber or Pillar rose. Hedging. Grow into trees. Good for cutting.
