Soil

Roses prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring.

Tolerant of Poor Soils, so broadcast rose fertilizer in early summer as well.

Flower Colour in Season. Hips

Creamy-white becoming pure White of semi or very double flowers in an upright cluster of 6-8 blooms.

Flowering is in the Summer only. Very fragrant. Sometimes with a good narrowly-shaped autumn hips display.

Comment

Good for Hedging. Woodland and covert planting.
