Roses prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring. Tolerant of Poor Soils, so broadcast rose fertilizer in early summer as well. |

Comment |
Upright-growing bush which is densely thorny and the stems are bronzy-brown in colour. This rose also bears small, dark red hips in late summer. Good for Woodland and covert planting.
