Soil

This Rose prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring.

Tolerant of Poor Soils, so broadcast rose fertilizer in early summer as well.

Foliage

Mid-Green foliage which is small and fern-like. Stems very densely populated with long, needle-like prickles.

Good Autumn Foliage.

Flower Colour in Season. Hips

Creamy-White flowering is in the Spring only. Ornamental almost black, shiny hips display.

Comment

Suckers freely when it is grown on its own roots, so makes a good impenetrable hedge!
