Soil

Roses prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring.

Tolerant of Poor Soils, so broadcast rose fertilizer in early summer as well.

Comment

A vigorous, dense shrub with sweetly scented foliage and blooms are followed by bright red hips.

Good for Hedging. Woodland and covert planting.

Susceptible to Black Spot.
