Soil

Roses prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring.

Comment

Use this rose for an exhibition where it won the Madrid Gold Medal in 1972 and the Portland Gold Medal in 1986. Enjoyed great popularity for many years due to its being a great garden variety. The rose is planted in the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin.

Good for bedding or planting in groups. Good for Hedges. Good for cutting.
