Rosa 'Double Gold' (Syn. Rosa 'SAVadouble')

Mini-Flora roses are a new classification adopted by the American Rose Society in 1999.   Another evolution of the rose, the blooms and foliage size are between a miniature and full size roses.  

The height is usually around 2.5 to 4 ft.  The blooms are larger than miniatures and come in many colors and bloom forms.

Roses prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring.

Gold, diameter 3 inches, very double, high-centred bloom with mild to strong fragrance.

Flowering is Repeat or Recurrent throughout the summer. Slightly fragrant.

Comment

Medium size, spreading, upright plant with fragrant buds, that can be used as a specimen. Breeder's Notes: "Yellow blends with apricot to give a rich gold color, loves warm climate and loose, rich soil."

Good for cutting. Grow in pots (Wrap container in horticultural fleece during the winter) or in the ground. Exhibition variety.

Susceptible to Black Spot.
