Rosa 'Kitty Hawk' Orville Wright was born on 19 August 1871 in Dayton, Ohio. He was the first man to fly an airplane, called the Kitty Hawk, 17 December 1903. On that day, Wright made several flights -- the longest one lasted 59 seconds and covered 852 feet. |

Roses prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring. |
