This submerged, perennial aquatic grows in a range of shallow-water habitats. The most characteristic include clear chalk streams, eutrophic lakes and ponds, and brackish lagoons, ponds and ditches. It is a frequent colonist of disused mineral workings. 0-380 m (Llynheilyn, Rads.).

Water Damage to Rail Network in Queensland, Australia.
...and I thought that you needed the intense heat of an oxy to bend steel rail.....the task here was completed by cold water, albeit fast flowing, but still water!!
Currently there are upwards of 70 bulk coal carriers anchored off our Queensland coal ports each costing about $13,000 a day. Coal shipments to Terminals/Power Stations will be slow for the next little bit....
