Soil

Roses prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring.

Tolerant of Poor Soils, so broadcast rose fertilizer in early summer as well.

Foliage

The light green foliage is a little sparse.

Still one of the best fragrant Reds, but it has a weak flower neck.

Flowering is Continuous throughout the summer. Moderately fragrant.

Very free flowering.

Good for bedding or planting in groups.
